Saarinen's Tower

Saarinen's Tower

The cab of Dulles Airport's original control tower. Designed as part of Dulles' original main terminal by architect Eero Saarinen, the tower was used from 1962 to 2007. Due to expansion of the airport and number of flights, a new, taller, more centrally located tower was constructed and became operational in 2007. Although no longer in use, the original tower is an integral part of the terminal design, historically significant and will not be removed.
